Announcing the ACM Future of Computing Academy

January 10, 2017

The ACM Future of Computing Academy (FCA) is a new initiative created by ACM to support and foster the next generation of computing professionals. The Academy is a platform that enables the next generation of researchers, practitioners, educators and entrepreneurs to develop a coherent and influential voice that addresses challenging issues facing the field and society in general.

"One of my priorities as ACM president is to have our organization effectively engage with emerging practitioners, researchers, educators, and entrepreneurs across the global computing community," says ACM President Vicki Hanson. "The FCA will seek to harness collective action to define and launch new ACM initiatives that will carry us into the future.

"ACM's longtime members and our traditional activities have helped grow our field and have contributed to the enormous impact computing has made on our lives,” says Hanson. “We will look to the ACM-FCA members to lead the way in showing us how we might develop new models for participation, collaboration, and career support."

Members of the Academy will be expected to participate in activities for the benefit of their generation as they build and shape new experiences to advance computing.

ACM is accepting applications for the FCA through March 15, 2017.
