Empowering the Next Generation of Computing

The ACM Future of Computing Academy (ACM FCA) was instituted in 2017 to engage and empower the next generation of computing professionals. This Academy is a platform that enables young researchers, practitioners, educators, and entrepreneurs of computing to develop a strong and influential voice towards addressing challenging issues facing ACM, the discipline, and the world at large. The ACM FCA aspires to harness collective action to define and launch new ACM initiatives that will carry the world of computing into the future.

The ACM FCA presents its members with a unique opportunity to expand their networks beyond their immediate professional environments and work alongside other incredibly accomplished individuals from diverse domains of computing towards the shared goal of shaping the future. Membership also enables individuals to draw on the ACM for support and mentorship to shape and advance their goals.

ACM FCA Crash Course on AI Series

Several ACM FCA members, including Lana Yarosh, Tim Weninger, and Yonatan Bisk, are the writers of a Crash Course on artificial intelligence. The 15-episode, 5-lab series will explore AI's history and its wide applications today, and intends to distill this complex subject for a broad audience. Watch a preview video above.

ACM FCA Issues Manifesto on Future of Computing & Food

ACM FCA gathered a group of academics, practitioners, a chef and local food producers to discuss ways technology can alleviate global issues such as food abundance/waste, inequality of food access, and individuals' needs to make healthy choices. The Manifesto lists five principals technologists and innovators should adhere to when designing the food systems of the future.
