Meet Featured ACM Distinguished Speaker Jeanna N. Matthews
Jeanna N. Matthews is an Associate Professor of Computer Science at Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York. She is a member of the Executive Committee of ACM’s US Technology Policy Committee (USTPC), and serves as Co-chair of its Subcommittee of Algorithmic Transparency and Accountability. A member of the ACM Council, she has written several popular books including Running Xen: A Hands-On Guide to the Art of Virtualization.

ACM Student Research Competition
The ACM Student Research Competition, sponsored by Microsoft, is an internationally recognized venue enabling undergraduate and graduate students to experience the research world, share research results and exchange ideas, rub shoulders with academic and industry luminaries, understand the practical applications of their research and gain recognition.

Meet Harald Störrle
Harald Störrle is a Principal IT Consultant at QAware Software Engineering, an independent software manufacturing and consulting firm in Munich, Germany. He was recently elected to the ACM Europe Council, having been active with the German ACM Chapter as a longtime member and Vice Chair. He is also a member of ACM’s Practitioners Board, which is responsible for developing programs that support the professional needs of ACM members as well as promoting computing as a profession.

Meet Heng Tao Shen
Heng Tao Shen is Professor, Dean of School of Computer Science and Engineering, Executive Dean of the AI Research Institute, and Director of the Centre for Future Media at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China. An ACM Distinguished Member, Shen has been involved in the ACM Multimedia Conference, and is an Associate Editor of ACM/IMS Transactions on Data Science (TDS).

Vicki Hanson on How Women Are Reshaping Computing
In her blog post for Computer Weekly's WITsend blog, ACM President Vicki Hanson discusses ACM's all-female leadership team, how diversity is helping to redefine what a computing professional is, and how the digital world is expanding career opportunities for non-technical people. "While most will not become expert, basic skills will be required for them to be effective in their careers and to deal with the myriad of online offerings for communication, entertainment, retail, and government services," she says.

ACM congratulates Janet Renwick of the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith, who won the 2018-2019 Ambassadors for ACM Grand Prize, an Apple Homepod. Winning the 2nd Grand Prize (a Fitbit Surge) was Pooja Bharadwaj of Cisco Systems India.
