  • ACM Risks Forum

    The ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy (CCPP) aids ACM in addressing internationally relevant issues relating to computers and public policy. The ACM Forum on Risks to the Public in Computers and Related Systems (RISKS Forum) is an online dialogue on risks to the public in computers and related systems, and is heavily involved in issues such as human safety, privacy, ethics, and legal responsibility. The RISKS Forum activity involves many people around the world, some of whom are contributing to the CCPP effort through their RISKS submissions.

  • Committee on Professional Ethics (COPE)

    The Committee on Professional Ethics (COPE) is responsible for promoting ethical conduct among computing professionals by publicizing the Code of Ethics and by offering interpretations of the Code; planning and reviewing activities to educate membership in ethical decision making on issues of professional conduct; and reviewing and recommending updates to the Code of Ethics and its guidelines.

    The general scope of the Education Board is to promote computer science education at all levels and in all ways possible. The Board is an executive-like committee overseeing the Education Council and initiates, directs, and manages key ACM educational projects, including the promotion of curriculum recommendations, the coordination of educational activities, and efforts to provide educational and information services to ACM membership. The Board oversees the work of the Education Council, and includes representatives of all ACM committees concerned with accreditation, curricula, aid to educational institutions, and other educational activities.

    A key mission of ACM is the education of computer and information specialists. Various volunteer committees under the Education Board develop and recommend computing curricula for all educational levels and provide self-assessment procedures, home study courses and professional development seminars.     The ACM Education Policy Committee is a high-level committee of acclaimed computer scientists and educators dedicated to improving opportunities for quality education in computer science and computing-related fields.   • Publications Board

    The Publications Board is responsible for the production and management of all ACM publications. Officially, the Board has authority over SIG conference proceedings and SIG newsletters, but these functions are delegated to volunteer conference committees and newsletter editors. ACM journals, with volunteer Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Boards, publish research papers, articles, and reviews written by volunteer experts. The production functions -- editing, proofreading, composition, artwork, advertising and printing -- are managed by Publications Department staff at Headquarters. The ACM Digital Library is an online searchable database with full-text articles from all ACM publications and bibliographic data from major publishers in computing.

  • ACM Risks Forum

    The ACM Committee on Computers and Public Policy (CCPP) aids ACM in addressing internationally relevant issues relating to computers and public policy. The ACM Forum on Risks to the Public in Computers and Related Systems (RISKS Forum) is an online dialogue on risks to the public in computers and related systems, and is heavily involved in issues such as human safety, privacy, ethics, and legal responsibility. The RISKS Forum activity involves many people around the world, some of whom are contributing to the CCPP effort through their RISKS submissions.

  • Committee on Professional Ethics (COPE)

    The Committee on Professional Ethics (COPE) is responsible for promoting ethical conduct among computing professionals by publicizing the Code of Ethics and by offering interpretations of the Code; planning and reviewing activities to educate membership in ethical decision making on issues of professional conduct; and reviewing and recommending updates to the Code of Ethics and its guidelines.

    The general scope of the Education Board is to promote computer science education at all levels and in all ways possible. The Board is an executive-like committee overseeing the Education Council and initiates, directs, and manages key ACM educational projects, including the promotion of curriculum recommendations, the coordination of educational activities, and efforts to provide educational and information services to ACM membership. The Board oversees the work of the Education Council, and includes representatives of all ACM committees concerned with accreditation, curricula, aid to educational institutions, and other educational activities.

    A key mission of ACM is the education of computer and information specialists. Various volunteer committees under the Education Board develop and recommend computing curricula for all educational levels and provide self-assessment procedures, home study courses and professional development seminars. Through its participation in the Computer Sciences Accreditation Board, ACM is instrumental in evaluating and accrediting computer science programs in colleges and universities.

  • Publications Board

    The Publications Board is responsible for the production and management of all ACM publications. Officially, the Board has authority over SIG conference proceedings and SIG newsletters, but these functions are delegated to volunteer conference committees and newsletter editors. ACM journals, with volunteer Editors-in-Chief and Editorial Boards, publish research papers, articles, and reviews written by volunteer experts. The production functions -- editing, proofreading, composition, artwork, advertising and printing -- are managed by Publications Department staff at Headquarters. The ACM Digital Library is an online searchable database with full-text articles from all ACM publications and bibliographic data from major publishers in computing.
